QT Boxes have been tested under International Safe Transit Association Standards.  For further information on the ISTA and its certifications please visit their webpage at www.ista.org .  One of the tests completed was as follows:

  • A standard QT Box containing an IBM monitor, Model #G70, was placed in a pressure chamber for a static pressure test for a period of one-hour under 2,000lbs per square inch of continuous pressure.
  • The box was compressed 1 inch during the test and the box’s exterior exhibited some bulging.
  • After completion of the test, there was no damage to the IBM monitor.
  • About 15 minutes after the test was completed, the QT Box returned to its original shape and showed no damage.

During the 10 years that QT Boxes have been in circulation, there has not been a report of any damage to the contents of a QT Box designed for a particular product/contents and used in accordance with specifications and shipping instructions.  Over 100,000 QT Boxes are currently in use around the world and are used daily for the safe shipment of fragile items.

QT Cases Testing Results
QT Cases designs cases to meet or exceed ATA specifications.  However ATA is a specification and not a certification.  As such many companies will state that they build to ATA specifications without even owning the specification guide from the International Air Transport Association.  For details on ATA specifications visit our section on ATA under Packaging Science.

QT Cases have also been manufactured for the armed forces of both Canada and the United States.  Capabilities include the ability to manufacture to meet military specifications and standards. 

All QT Cases are manufactured under ISO-9001 certification.  ISO-9001 is a continual improvement accreditation in manufacturing that is required to be a supplier in most European countries and is gaining recognition and importance in North America.  The systems and processes of QT Cases are audited every 6 months and any infractions or deviations from approved, published protocols and systems could lead to the loss of certification.  QT Cases is the only North American case manufacturer that is ISO-9001 certified.  In the six years since attaining the certification not one deficiency has ever been recorded in any audit.
